Background

BRAC Maendeleo Tanzania (BMT) seeks to engage a qualified, technical experienced consultant to facilitate three-days intensive ADVANCED EXCEL TRAINNG for its finance staffs.

The training is expected to combine intensive advanced excel practical training, hands on exercises, and finance based case studies which are aimed to ensure the finance staffs apply the skills acquired thorough fully in their daily work.

Selection criteria

The selected consultant is expected to design and deliver a customized intensive Advanced Excel Training aligned with BMT’s organizational culture, operational structure, and finance staff needs.

The provider must:

• Have strong background and knowledge of financial accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, reconciliations and financial analysis.

• Demonstrate experience in delivering Advanced Microsoft Excel trainings to finance and accounting professionals to large institutions, NGOs or INGOs.

• Proven ability to translate advanced excel techniques into practical finance applications.

• Proven competitiveness and reasonableness of the financial proposals with strong facilitation, analytical, documentation, and financial reporting skills.

• Experience working with large development institutions, NGOs, or INGOs will be an added advantage.

• Possession of all necessary legal and regulatory business documentation (Business License, TIN, registration certificates, etc.)

Scope of services

The Consultant will be responsible for the design, preparation and facilitation of three-day Advanced Excel Training for BRAC Maendeleo’s finance staff.

The training should be specifically tailored to the needs of finance staffs and should include but not necessarily be limited to, the following:

1. Advanced Excel functions and formulas

• LOOKUPs

• INDEX and MATCH

• IFS and logical functions

• Formula auditing

• Troubleshooting

• Error-handling techniques

• Advanced calculation techniques

2. Financial data analysis

• Analyze large data sets

• Summarize financial information

• Identify error and unusual transactions

3. Budgeting and variance analysis

• Variance Analysis

• Sensitivity analysis

4. Bank reconciliations and financial reconciliations

5. Automation and efficiency

• Advanced formulas

• Power query

• Automated templates

• Data techniques

• Pivot tables

• Pivot charts

6. Practical finance based exercises

7. Management recommendations

Provide recommendations to management on improving teamwork, communication, and staff Engagement.

Expected deliverables

The service provider will deliver:

1. Pre-training deliverables

• Pre-training assessment to establish participants’ Excel competency levels

• Training methodology, and detailed sample datasets for practical exercises

2. During the training

• Intensive professional facilitation of the three-days Training

• Practical demonstrations

• Staff engagement and technical support

3. Post-training deliverables

• Post training assessment

• Summary of staffs’ assessment results

• Practical recommendations for continued improvement of excel skills within the finance function

• Certificates of participation

4. Report to the Country Director

A report to the Country Director, including:

• Summary of training activities and key outcomes

• Participant feedback

Guidelines for proposal submission

Interested service providers are required to submit both Technical and Financial Proposals, including:

• Detailed company or consultant profile

• Proposed training methodology

• Proof of business registration (BRELA details)

• Memorandum and Articles of Association

• TIN Certificate and VAT Registration Certificate (VRN)

• Valid Business License

• TRA Tax Compliance Certificate (latest)

• Qualifications and experience of key personnel

• Evidence of similar assignments (minimum three contactable references)

• Audited financial statements for the last two years

Contract duration

The assignment will be for three (3) days in Dodoma, scheduled from Monday to Wednesday, tentatively November 2026 (To be confirmed).

The consultant will work under the supervision of the Country Director and Head of Finance.

Cost of proposal submission

BRAC Maendeleo Tanzania shall not be held liable for any costs incurred by applicants in preparing and submitting proposals.

The proposed budget must include all associated costs to be borne by the service provider.

BRAC Maendeleo Tanzania invites interested firm/individual to submit their technical and financial proposals for the provision of the above mentioned service.
